 Cherish Life Queensland Inc does NOT support any specific political party. We do, however, support individual candidates and sitting members who have been identified as pro-life, irrespective of their party. We encourage you to do whatever you can to help ensure that pro-life candidates are elected to parliament. Why? Because when you are dealing with the threat of full decriminalisation of abortion and other anti-life measures, it ultimately comes down to the numbers. It's how your MP votes that counts.  Following the unprecedented ousting of pro-abortion figurehead MP Bonnie Barry in the last state election, a number of pro-life and pro-family groups came together to form the Voters For Life project.Where pro-life people have campaigned against pro-abortion MPs or candidates in the past state and federal elections: - it has appeared to be successful in every chosen electorate in either displacing the EMILY's List / pro-abortion candidate or preventing the dislodgement of a pro-life MP - there has been a consistent additional 3% swing in favour of our pro-life candidate in targeted electorates Voters For Life produced the "I Want To Know The Truth" booklet to explain the devastating effects of abortion on women and what is at stake if the Victorian model is applied to Queensland.  Family Life International have produced this voting guide for the 2012 Queensland state election. In it you will find:- an explanation of the setup of the Queensland parliament - how preferential voting works and how you can make the most of it - a brief history of the conservative side of Queensland politics The voting guide also contains a listing of all current MPs and how they have voted on life issues such as surrogacy, RU486 and cloning. It also lists if an MP is a member of EMILY's List.  Cherish Life has produced a single page "What Your Church Can Do To Stop Abortion" information sheet. This covers the areas of pastoral, education, support, outreach and activism. |
