BREAKING: New addition to our speaker line-up: DR DAVID VAN GEND is a long time friend of Cherish Life Qld, a gifted speaker and respected medical practitioner. Dr van Gend is speaking on: 'What decriminalisation of abortion would do to the Queensland health system.' COME ALONG THIS SATURDAY TO LEARN THE TRUTH about what more abortion in Qld would do.

Dr David van Gend is a GP in Toowoomba and a senior lecturer in palliative medicine.

Since 1994 David has been Queensland secretary for the World Federation of Doctors who Respect Human Life. Since 1996 he has been a spokesman for TRUST, an association opposing euthanasia but promoting palliative care.

David has debated bioethical issues on national television and radio and has published dozens of articles in our major newspapers. In 2006, David was featured in the medical newspaper Australian Doctor as one of the country’s “50 most intriguing GPs".


Dr Catherine Lennon
is a GP working in Sydney
with special expertise in Counselling , Women’s health and Fertility. Catherine is the NSW president of Doctors for Life and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General practitioners. Catherine regularly gives talks and speaks in the media about Womens health issues, support for women during pregnancy , problems related to abortion, euthanasia , promoting palliative care and suicide prevention. Catherine was a media spokesperson last year in the successful defeat of the Faruqi abortion bill and defeat of the NSW Euthanasia bill. Catherine has worked in Geriatrics and Palliative care, caring for people with terminal illnesses . Catherine is passionate about improving health for all Australians especially those most in need. Catherine is a fellow of the National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Dr Catherine Lennon is also a founding member of Matercare Australia a group helping improve the health of mothers and babies in developing countries in Africa and East Timor.

Debbie Garratt is a Doctoral Researcher and Registered Nurse, founder of Real Choices Australia, a research and education organisation dedicated to ensuring the dissemination of accurate information about the needs of women experiencing challenges during pregnancy and early parenting, and about the adverse impact of abortion. Underpinned by experience across a range of sectors as a counsellor and adult educator for almost 3 decades, along with 2 Bachelor Degrees and a Master’s Degree, Debbie’s expertise on the issues of abortion and coercion, and breaking down the ideological barriers to abortion discussion is highly sought both nationally and internationally.

Presentation overview
Debbie will cover mental health aspects of abortion through the presentation of women’s stories as well as talking about some of her current research findings regarding the dominant discourse of abortion. Presentation will include recommendations for strategies moving forward.

Kai Nash is the President of Youth for Life, which is a grassroots movement of Australian young people who believe that all humans should be treated with equal dignity and granted equal rights. She has been on the team since 2016 and is passionate about how personal encounters with people in the public square can help change the culture to one that respects life.

Rebecca Gosper is Director of LifeChoice Australia and based in Sydney. LifeChoice is a pro-life, student-based organisation which aims to start pro-life clubs at Universities around the country. They currently have more than 300 students signed up and continue to rapidly grow. Rebecca recently graduated with a Bachelor of Human Science majoring in human movement and early childhood. She has been involved in several pro-life campaigns in NSW including the Faruqi abortion bill, the ‘Support Not Suicide’ campaign against the euthanasia bill and most recently the ‘We Support Women’ campaign which fought against the ‘exclusion zones’ bill. She was also the recipient of the ‘Outstanding Young Volunteer’ award at the Pregnancy Support Awards Night at NSW Parliament House. Rebecca is passionate about mobilising young people to defend the unborn, empower women to choose life and ultimately build a culture of life in Australia.
