The American Center for Law and Justice has had a sweeping victory for pro-life pharmacy owners in Illinois after a legal battle lasting six years.  On 5 April 2011 the state court decreed that pharmacy owners were not longer compelled to dispense the “morning after pill”.  What great news!

Two brave pharmacy owners, Luke VanderBleek and Glenn Kosirog, took their concerns to court and Judge John W Belz of the circuit court sitting in Springfield declared that the state law violated the state’s Health Care Right of Conscience Act, the Illinois Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), and the Free Exercise of Religion Clause of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Many of you may not be aware that here in Queensland (and no doubt elsewhere in Australia) the guidelines for the pharmacists dictate that they must either supply the “morning after pill” or tell anyone requesting it where they can obtain it.

This is nonsense as there is no onus on the pharmacist if he doesn’t carry a certain line of cosmetics, headache tablets or foot cream where they can go to obtain those so why is the destructive and carcinogenic “morning after pill” singled out for special treatment?

What happens in America often happens over here — in this case one can hope so and agitate for the same!

John Anderson

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the National Party John Anderson recently spoke at the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday 10 March, with roughly 350 people in attendance. His speech, entitled ‘Lose the faith — lose the culture’, contained this apt analogy:

“As a farmer, if you want to grow a good crop, you have to first till the soil in which a crop is grown. The crop of freedom, of democracy, of all of the good things that we take for granted in our lives, is in fact Christianity, and yet our society has moved away from it and so little understands now the soil in which the crops of freedom are grown, that I do not believe we can expect to continue to grow those crops.”

Listen to John Anderson's speech.

According to Planned (non)Parenthood's own figures on their US website, they did more abortions in 2009 than any other previous year.  What is also blatantly obvious from their own figures, that as their rate of abortions rose, their referrals for adoptions and the like plummeted.

Consider what states of PP's own statistics:

“...the new numbers make it more clear that women who are pregnant who come to Planned Parenthood receive only abortion services rather than help and support.  The new document the abortion organisation posted shows PP provided prenatal services to merely 7,021 women and referred only 977 women for adoption services.  These numbers were a 25% drop in prenatal care clients and a whopping 59% decline in adoption referrals from the 2,405 adoption referrals in 2008.  The abortion business helped only 9,433 prenatal clients in 2008, down substantially from the 11,000 women it provided prenatal care to in 2007 — showing health care given to pregnant woman has fallen substantially over the years.

As a result, 97.6% of pregnant women going to Planned Parenthood are sold abortions while less than 2.4% of pregnant women received non-abortion services including adoption and prenatal care. That’s up from 96.5 percent of pregnant women going to Planned Parenthood getting abortions in 2008.

“Despite its protestations that abortion is only a small part of its services,” said Jim Sedlak, vice president of the pro-life group American Life League, “Planned Parenthood has increased its number of abortions for 15 straight years.  During that time, it has gone from committing 9.3 percent of all abortions in the United States to committing 27.5 percent.”

Yet more proof of the almost singularly pro-abortion mindset of the Planned Parenthood.  We need YOU to act now and get PP here in Australia defunded!  They are working hard in America to have them defunded there, let's get active here.

Click on the link and help lobby the government to stop funding of Planned Parenthood in AUSTRALIA.

From the Life Network Australia site:

Last year the Federal Government gave Planned Parenthood $9,000,000 of Australian taxpayer's money.

It is also unacceptable that our taxes pay for abortions in Australia through Medicare.

Please write to your Federal Member and to the following MP's to express your opposition to any Australian funding of Planned Parenthood and that you object to your taxes funding abortions within Australia.

When a headline screams “40 per cent support euthanasia: poll” as it did on a news article on (18-3-11).

The online poll involved 2505 Australians in October of last year.  ‘More than 40 per cent of Australians would "take the option of euthanasia if available" if they were terminally ill with just weeks to live, a poll has indicated,’ the article stated, conveniently omitting to mention the fact that 60% would not!  One wonders if the lack of support for euthanasia would have been even more if it was a truly random poll done by professional market research companies over the phone, rather than a quick click poll via the internet.

The research was commissioned by Alzheimer's Australia (AA), with AA chief executive Glenn Rees commenting about whether people wanted to be ‘force fed’.  What a dramatic and incorrect way to speak about the normal situation of merely supplying nutrition to people who are unable to supply it to themselves.

The news article stated, “While it focused on dementia, respondents were asked what they would want if they were terminally ill with only a few weeks to live”.  One has to ask the question, if one has only ‘a few weeks to live’, why would you want to kill yourself?  Won’t the end come soon enough?

Thankfully, at this point in time, euthanasia is not legal in any state or territory of Australia.

Whilst Rees states “as an organisation we don't have a view one way or the other on euthanasia," the mere phrasing of words eg ‘force fed’ implies a, shall we say, softening if not promoting of an attitude towards euthanasia.  The fact that AA will be releasing a discussion paper on euthanasia ahead of the organisation's annual conference in Brisbane from 17-20 May 2011 and a subsequent ‘debate’ on it will be of some concern.

One wonders if after this conference, there will be a subtle or not so subtle change in the view of AA towards euthanasia.  We sincerely hope not.  Love, care and patience are what Alzheimer’s patients need, not a fast track to demise.

On 18-2-11, the US House voted 240 – 185 to strike all federal funding for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Every year the abortion giant receives hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding.

Whilst the amendment still has to go before the Senate where the Republicans do not have a majority and Obama may be able to veto it, this giant step is truly a leap forward in the thinking of the thinking politicians.

Recent videos by the pro-life organization Live Action may have contributed to this momentous vote as they expose Planned Parenthood staff repeatedly willing to aid and abet the trafficking of under-age “sex workers” by offering advice to an undercover investigator posing as a “pimp” on how to obtain secret abortions, contraception, and STD tests.

Needless to say Planned Parenthood are in a fury and have updated their webpage with an open letter to Congress and NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) are also screeching from the rooftops that lawmakers were “out of control”.  Apparently they are only “in control” when they poor millions of dollars into the death coffers of the abortion industry.

Planned Parenthood vigorously lobby and litigate against parental notification and consent laws as they are well aware if girls don't tell their parents, PP stands a much greater chance of getting them to abort and ensuring that there will be an approximate 50% return rate of those same girls in the future.

Please pray — yes pray — that the US Senate will allow decency and common sense to prevail and that they will vote for the passing of this life-saving legislation.
