“I have no choice” are words that resound uttered too often to count by women worldwide. They are the words of defeat – after announcing an unexpected pregnancy, women are coerced, badgered, encouraged, threatened and tricked into an ill-informed decision that has life-long consequences. Stripping away the slim veneer masquerading as legal protection (ie the current abortion legislation) for those who do not wish to be involved in illegal activities, would remove the last barrier that a pregnant woman can hold on to in defence of her unborn child. Women deserve respect – they deserve to respect themselves and deserve the respect of others. If they stand firm and listen to their hearts, and follow what they hear, their path will be brighter. There is an old saying "Three things that never come back; the spent arrow, the spoken word, the lost opportunity." Let's not lose this opportunity to help women walk a path of hope and happiness rather than heartache. Join us for the “Respect for Women Rally” being held on Saturday 9 February 2008 at Queen’s Park on the corner of Elizabeth and George Streets, Brisbane CBD. Assemble at 1.30pm. Rally starts at 2pm.
