As we near the end of another year, It is time to reflect upon ours and also other prolife group’s endeavours this year. This is because although we work across different states, we all share the same goal for our great country that all human life be respected and upheld from its beginning at conception to its natural end. These goals encompass and explain our two original and ongoing commitments to oppose abortion and euthanasia.
At Christmas, we celebrate the love God had for His creation that He sent His only Son into the world as a helpless infant in order to die on the Cross for the salvation of each one of us. The nativity scenes depict a serene calmness, but the Cross wasn’t far away, as recalled in the Gospels. St. Joseph is warned in a dream to flee from Herod who was even then plotting to ensure Jesus wouldn’t live long enough to challenge him. Herod represented the “principalities and powers” of his day and went on to order a slaughter of baby boys two years and younger in order to pursue his goal. Joseph had to flee with his family across the inhospitable Sinai desert to Egypt where they lives as refugees for several years according to Egyptian Christian records until he was advised by an Angel that it was safe to return to Galilee. It is easy to forget when one witnesses the obfuscation and lies from the abortion lobby that, in the words of Ephesians 6:12 “we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness.”
