On Saturday 31st May, hundreds of Rockhampton residents flooded the city’s streets in a striking show of unity and moral conviction, joining the Pro-Life March to stand up for the dignity and humanity of every unborn child.
With signs reading “Love Them Both” and “Every Life is Precious”, families with prams, retirees, teenagers all walked side by side. Their message was clear: silence is no longer an option in the face of laws that allow abortion up to birth.
In an era when it’s easy to keep controversial topics politely hidden, Rockhampton locals chose instead to confront the uncomfortable truth head-on: Queensland’s abortion laws are among the most extreme in the world, and the cost is measured in lives lost and women left unsupported.
A huge thank you to Zipporah for organising the event with the help of the local CLQ Branch.
A Community That Refuses To Look Away
This wasn’t a fringe demonstration. It was the third annual March. It is a visible reminder that concern for the unborn isn’t limited to city activists or church pews. Ordinary Queenslanders are deeply troubled by a system that offers abortion on demand, even late-term abortion.
At the heart of the event were speeches delivered by Matthew Cliff, CEO of Cherish Life Queensland; Queensland Senator Matt Canavan; Mike Foster from Answers in Genesis; and local pro-life advocate Zipporah McBurney. Their combined voices underscored a shared conviction: Queensland can do better.
Their presence reminded marchers—and onlookers—that this is not a fringe issue but one that demands a moral reckoning. The speakers offered encouragement, challenged complacency, and urged the crowd to be part of the solution—whether through advocacy, practical help for mothers, or simply refusing to stay silent.
It wasn’t just about saying no to abortion. It was about saying yes to life. To real choice. To compassion that doesn’t end at the clinic door.
