Key Reasons To Put Labor Last

Listed the Abortion Pill RU-486 on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)

In 2013, the Labor government under Tanya Plibersek approved the listing of the abortion drug RU-486 (mifepristone) on the PBS, making medical/chemical abortions cheaper and more widely available.[i]

Support for Abortions Through Medicare

The federal Labor government has overseen a threefold increase in Medicare-subsidised medical terminations.[ii]

Labor’s Longstanding Support for Abortion

Labor figures, including Prime minister Anthony Albanese,[iii] have historically defended legal abortion.[iv] This long-standing commitment to abortion has ended the life of countless Australian unborn children.

Key Reasons To Put Green's Last

Proposed $100 Million Annual Investment in Public Abortion Services

The Greens have pledged $100 million annually to ensure all public hospitals provide abortion services. This represents a large-scale use of taxpayer funds to expand the intentional ending of human life in the womb across the nation.[i]

Pushed for Decriminalisation Nationwide

The Greens have campaigned to fully decriminalise abortion in every state and territory, treating it exclusively as a healthcare matter. This removes all legal recognition of the unborn child as a distinct human being with rights.[ii]

Opposition to Protections for Born-Alive Babies

The Greens have opposed legislation like the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill, which seeks to ensure medical care for babies who survive abortion. Refusing to support protections for babies born alive after failed abortions undermines the most basic human right to life and medical care.[iii]
